Welcome back to the Airflow AC website Mk 2.
Airflow AC was conceived in the 1988/89 season, as a result of a small group of employees of Airflow Developments Ltd. In High Wycombe who were passionate about angling, getting together on the occasional Saturday for a days fishing. In the first few months, the half dozen keen piscatorial's concerned fished the river at Marlow on the” free stretch” and the “lock cut”, also Marsh Tackle’s back arm at Toad Hall Garden Centre. In those early days their lake did not exist, that was dug out a few years later. At the start of the 1989/90 season these, now even keener piscatorial's, had a meeting and decided to approach Airflow Sports and Social Club to explore the possibility of a FISHING CLUB SECTION. They readily agreed, and on that day AIRFLOW AC was born, supported by the Sports and Social Club. They provided a shield to be fished for annually on a points basis, stipulating that only sports and social club members plus a guest could fish the matches. Immediately an AGM was called and all those interested came along to the works canteen one evening to form a committee and agree a few basic rules .As time went on, the friendly and relaxed atmosphere that existed within the club became well known. As a result we had many requests to guest at our future matches. As the years progressed the venues just got better and better and a number of new breed commercial carp fisheries had started to spring up . One of these was WILLOW PARK. (Ash Vale) then owned and run by John Raison. The club had many memorable trips down there just pleasure fishing. One day we were asked by John if we would like to try the new fishery he had just opened around the corner. It was called GOLD VALLEY. This we duly did, and we just could not believe the great facilities that were on offer. There was a… Tackle shop -food & drink, -car parking – toilets- fishing from platforms and- NO mud, it just couldn’t get any better! You could even catch more than two pounds of fish! Airflow AC was one of the first clubs to fish at Gold Valley. John Raison became a personal friend of the club and invited us to hold a charity match there once a year. These matches proved to be very popular and over the ten years 1993 to 2003, through the kindness of John Raison, and the generosity of the Airflow AC members their guests and friends we raised £6, 474.00 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust charity, and we caught a total of 3.143 lb.-15oz of fish. AND THAT’S FACT.!! About five years ago it was rumoured that Airflow Developments Ltd. was being sold , and with this in mind the angling club decided to become INDEPENDENT. An EGM was called and it was unanimously agreed that the club would continue under a new format with a new set of rules and its own bank account. And that’s where we are today. There are still a couple of those original 1988/89 members fishing most Saturdays, and they remember with fondness those first club matches without carbon poles, and all the high tech equipment that’s A MUST for all today’s match anglers. Airflow AC over the years has gone from strength to strength, as a result of the dedication exhibited by its officials, the commitment of its members and the friendly banter and laughter that make every match day, - what ever the weather.!!
