Ex CHAIRMANS FISHING DIARY 2007

SATURDAY  3rd FEBRUARY 2007         CEMEX ST PATS STREAM

x

The first real chubb fishing session of 2007 saw me on a venue I don’t fish that often and on a lovely spring like day fishing treble swimfeeder red maggot and after a couple of small roach had my first Chubb and what a beauty as well weighing 5lb 4oz which took around 1.30pm plus a another rod wrencher around an hour later but missed.I fished an hour into dark but with a hard frost forming no more bites were forthcoming

SATURDAY  11th FEBRUARY 2007                SPADE OAK PIT

x

I was going too fish running water today but due to a cold snap with heavy snow midweek and with the prospect of snow water going through on the rivers I elected to fish an old favorite for perhaps another pike and im glad too say that gamble paid off with an 8lb 9oz speciman that took ledgered smelt (again) fished on a bar around 30 yards out which brings my pike total to 9 since January but despite the cold snap midweek which was short lived that day was wonderfuly mild if a little wet

SATURDAY  17th FEBRUARY 2007         LONGMOOR LAKE

x  This was to be the first airflow a.c match of the year and it was time too put my match fishing skills to practice fishing with a pole at around 9 meters and I think with my limited match skills I did rather well getting catching a total of around 27lb of small tench and carp but match was won by the newly elected chairman  Stuart hall with 48lb+ but I had a great time fishing next to the secretary Chris Payne who just pipped me too the post we came 6th and 5th respectivly on another mild but this time dry winters day

SATURDAY  24th FEBRUARY 2007 CEMEX R.GREAT OUSE TYRINGHAM

x A new venue for me and after a little difficulty

finding it I arrived at a beautiful venue  set in the grounds of the tyringham estate with a  magnificent hall in the background and a field   full of reindeer.I decided to chubb fish in a deep  area behind one of the two islands with plenty of over  overhanging bushes alas I never had a touch despite fishing three different swims.Another angler I spoke to afterwards landed three chub from the wide featureless stretch below the bridge which looked more breamy than chubb.OH WELL!!! BACK DOWN TOO EARTH WITH A BUMP!!!

MARCH.One of my favorite times YES the last two weeks you can fish

Running water and until the 14th this will be my line although due to the rivers running into the fields I will divert my attentions to perhaps a big Perch from the canal but after (hope the weather drys out) its running waters and have booked 13th & 14th off work to try for another Perch or Chub. After that an Airflow match at royal berks (another big perch venue) and then a bit of Carping maybe DON’T FORGET ROD LICENCES HAVE TO BE RENEWED ON THE 31st

                   MY MARCH WEATHER FORECAST

Headline…        UNSETTLED GENERALY MILD

I THINK  MARCH UNFORTUNATELY WILL BE A VERY WET MONTH

OVERALL WITH ABOVE AVERAGE RAINFALL SO PROSPECTS LOOK GRIM FOR THOSE RIVERS SO WILL HAVE TO FIND A SLACK BUT PERHAPS THE GOOD NEWS IT WILL BE MILD AGAIN WITH WINDS COMING FROM THE SOUTH-WEST GENERALLY.THESE WILL BE STRONG AT TIMES. BY THE FINAL WEEK I THINK SPRING WILL BURST AND GIVE A SPELL OF FINE SPRING LIKE WEATHER WITH SOME GOOD TEMPERATURES AS A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS FROM THE AZORES AND TEMPS COULD REACH AROUND 16c
